Hyocephalidae

Overview

This small family of bugs is endemic to Australia.

The Hyocephalidae are believed to be seed feeders that undertake a cryptic lifestyle on the underside of stones in areas of gravel or sand.

Distribution

Only 2 species are known. Hyocephalus aprungus is found in South Australia and Western Australia. Maevius indecorus is found on the north-east coast of Queensland.
