The objective of this site is to provide information, or links to various sources of information, about the Insect order Thysanoptera, the thrips — primarily about their identification, systematics and faunal patterns. The site draws attention to major sources of information about thrips worldwide. To this end we invite comments and suggestions of further links, sources of information, and errors in the data given here.

This website owes its origin to an initiative by the Federal Government of Australia to provide web access to much information that is generated at public expense. Part of that initiative led to the creation of the Taxonomy Research and Information Network, and this has facilitated presentation of the information given here on insects of the order Thysanoptera, the thrips.
